High pitch noise coming from my amplifier.

Hi,

I have bought an Ibanez S520-WK electric guitar and a Roland Cube 20GX recently. When I hook them up I hear this high pitch noise coming from the amp. [See video below]. I suspect that it might be the power supply and have changed to other power outlet at home but still faces the same noise issue. However, I don't hear it when I set it up at my colleague's place. Is there any device that can help to address this "noisy" power supply issue.

Thanks.

does your house use fluorescent lights? Your amp could be picking up some interference cause it's sharing power with the lights (can't be helped, either turn the lights variable control to minimum/maximum.)

otherwise, have you tried isolating just the amp turned up louder without plugging anything in to see if the same issue occurs?

Hi Brown Sugar,

Thanks for your reply.

I do use fluorescent light at home but not the type that have variable control. I tried switching off all lightings and even the wireless router but still get the noise.

When the amp is in isolation, there is no noise. Once I plug in my guitar the noise comes back but stop when I turn the volume knob on the guitar to mute. Apparently, the guitar seems to be the culprit but I did try to swap guitars at my colleague's place and did not find any issue. I am going to try my setup at another friend's place to confirm if it is the power supply's issue.

Will share my findings.

Haha i'm not brown sugar but i love brown sugar.

Anyway, now we know it's not an amp issue, it could be the cable or even the guitar picking up interference.
