High notes etc

I'm new here. I was just wondering how to sing high notes without going into falsetto? Like singing high notes using your 'real' voice? And how to like sort of 'growl' a note. Example is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6K6r4ZHaEDs The 'growl' is around 2.28-2.30. When i listen to myself sing, i don't feel that i'm off, but when i listen to the recording of me singing, it's abit off. How do i solve that problem?

U need to have good diaphragm power to force your air upwards fast. A slightly lesser air means u will drop to falsetto...

While it's true you need more pressure for the higher notes, too much pressure with not enough cord closure will also put you in falsetto. Pressure and cord closure need to be balanced.

So you need to be aware of which way you are unbalanced - too much or too little, so you can adjust appropriately. You can also be unbalanced in other ways, which is why singing is such a mysterious art form.

Yep, too much pressure and u are like shouting, and after awhile ur diaphragm will be tired and u soon start to sing with chest and neck muscles...

Just like my video a negative demo haha..
