GUYS!

Oh my goodness, i think this has never happened to me before so i'm gonna ask you all.

I just changed all my strings this afternoon, and before that everything was fine. After i changed the strings, the first string (high E) has a huge problem. My 15th and 16th fret, FOR WHATEVER REASONS, now has plays the same note! I'm going hysterical now.. can someone help!

Thanks man.. this is weird!

i think your guitar neck's height isn't adjusted properly........and maybe your bridge's string tension is not adjusted too.....

im kinda thinking its fret height.
ya true... check to see if ur 15th fret hight is almost the smae as ur 16th fret height... if its lower then ur string kena pressed at 16 fret...

if thats the case u can go replace ur 15th fret at guitar shops

or you could manually file down the 16th fret a notch but be warned this could cause damage to ur guitar if u arent careful. or just to play safe take it down to a shop to check wats the problem. :D

i had that b4... weell..
try this out...

i raised that particular string way up till i dun get the same problem..
i also noticed that this happend when i use a heavy gauge string.. for example.. i dun get this problem when using .08s but i get em when i use .10s

its sumthing to do with ur frets..
its too high that even a buzz doesnt sound.. it just take the note of the higher fret.. if from what u tell me is correct.. the the 16th fret is the one giving the problem...

do not attempt to file it down.. disastrous.. you may totally file it down too low and you'll loose a 16th fret cuz its way to low and 17th will take its place.. and there goes a note..or you may file it and it'll be rough... a lil' bit of bending and SNAP goes the string..

remember the strings are under tension.. any amount or small lil peice of sharp object will cut it in half..

when you're ready for a string change, bring it to sumone trustable to fix the fret up.. refretting that one fret should cost you above $30..
good luck to you ..

2 scenarios.

Either the neck has developed an upbow or your frets are uneven.

Did you change the gauge of your strings?

well guys i've got it settled.

dric helped me out! Haha.. well, it seems that i needed to raise the bridge a little for the high E, had to use an alan key to raise it by a little. Gauge was the same, cos i think i meddled with the bridge before changing strings.

Thanks to all anyway!
