Hello friendly soft keyboard people,
I am a drummer who has very recently started classical piano lessons as a means to:
- build up sorely lacking music foundation, in order to
- express myself melodically and facilitate composition (the biggest part of what i am trying to do) and
- indulge in piano music which i do enjoy while
- hopefully help me to play my glockenspiel better (my foray into tuned percussion)
Genre-wise, i share pretty balanced affection for classical (actually playing the piano like a piano) and electronic (synthesized ambient noises and loops) styles.
I'm looking for an instrument to begin with! With much gratitude returned i hope some of you more experienced guys can help! I'm aware that at this stage something with too many bells and whistles might deviate from the actual focus of learning how to play well; but i also don't want to end up with something i grow out off and lament in a short time to come.
It is my current perception that it would be quite useful in a compositional sense to have computer connectivity, for recording, editing and arranging in a DAW software. Maybe there are even software synths available which i can control with the keyboard to satisfy that part of me that craves dense atmospheric walls of sound? All this and still be able to play it like a piano?
Maybe i'm asking for too much, i'm not very sure, opinions and recommendations are highly appreciated. Budget is flexible; i'm willing to save and put off my purchase for something that has more long-term value, yet it shouldn't be something way over the head of someone just starting out...
Thanks in advance...
