helps needed for electric guitar thingy!

i need comments from pros about what stuffs do i need and what beginner electric guitar is recommended? thanks alot!

basically you need a electric guitar, amp, cable, tuner. 8O

what guitar you want really depends on your budget.
just dont get a starter pack. a squier tele/strat wouldnt be too bad.

there are countless electric guitars out there to choose from. the one you'd pick should offer you at least pleasant tones & playability, regardless of its brand name & shape. so the onus is on you to try out as many as possible, narrow doen your preferences & do a bit of reading on them.

the other decisive factor would of course be $$$. nevertheless, if you can afford mid-priced units ($1K+/-), do not stop yourself from getting one, even if you are new to the electric guitar. as an introductory guideline, do avoid guitars with locking vibrato bridges, save these for futher explorations once you get a good grip on playing.

on matters pertaining to Squier guitars- not the entire selection are duds. the ones to avoid (speaking from personal encounters) are the Affinity models.

haha, im not pro but maybe you could try getting a yamaha pacifica? can't really go wrong there i think. :wink:

yea.... pacifica would be great!

When i started, i started with the pacifica...

When you become more pro... you can mod your pacifica! Scallop the neck! Or have the neck changed to a strat neck for about S$600 only! Change the pickups! Personalize it! Its fun and it doesn't cost as much as having a custom made guitar...

graphix1988, if you google on elecrtic guitar pedals or even search wikipedia, i bet you would find more info. on them than we can provide here.

Anyway to answer your question, they are devices connected in between the amplifier and guitar that can be toggled on and off to give you an assortment of effects.

For example a boss DS-1 will give you your basic distortion.

P.S. Many people on this forum feel that research should be done first before shooting off questions expecting ppl to answer them.. get my drift? :wink:

heh i started with the Ibanez GSZ120.. the Gio version of the SZ series.. entry level guitar, but still sounds and plays great, thin and fast neck too.. if i remember correctly i got it for about $315...

Ibanez DS-1! Surely! Nxt, there'll be BOSS Crunchbox, MI Audio CS-3, blahblah. Plz do go read the stickies, they'll help u alot. If u want a suggestion, do try the Washburn X-11 at Swee Lee. I have noticed that Ibanez, Gibson, Epi etc. get more recognition here than other 'underdog' brands like Washburn. No offence to Ibanez, Gibby, Epi etc. fans but this is wat i feel and see.

for now, i think the threadstarter should be deciding on which guitar he should get instead of which pedal.

i 2nd the ibanez sa120 guitar too! you may want to look at the ibanez rg321.
