i just changed the strings of my strat and i realised the angle of the tremolo bridge to the body is abnormally big as compared to before when i had not changed the strings, and i'm having a terrible time tuning the guitar and making it stay in tune . i'm not sure of the gauge of the previous sets of strings as they were stock. i put in a set of 10s btw. what am i suppose to do??

well on most stock's the gauge would be 9's. and since you changed to 10's its normal the the tremolo angle is now much larger than before. what you need to do is tighten the springs behind the guitar until your bridge is leveled again. don't just tighten them all the way though, do it slowly and at the same time tune your guitar.

if it's a Fender, the factory default gauge is a .009

in order to recreate the original bridge placement, you need to refer to the cavity behind the body, tighten the screws which hold the springs in place till the bridge comes down, re-tune & repeat process if necessary.

i'm refering to this cavity, of course 8)
