hey i wanna buy a plug-in acoustic, size smaller than dreadnought, preferably with cutaway. budget is $500. any recommendations for a decent guitar? thanks.

Grand Auditorium, "000", "00", Parlor. These are a few sizes you might wanna consider.

Bear in mind, if you like and enjoy the sound of dreadnought then you'll have a hard time finding something you like with these shapes.. They sound totally different and i've not tried any smaller body that sounds like a dreadnought. I might be wrong. But still, there are a few brands that offers big sound frm small bodies.

Things to look out for..
-your budget most probably will only fetch you laminated guitar. Ask the kind of lamination used. There are those that uses verneer, single laminated wood and double sided laminated wood. I recon you the double sided laminated wood as these really helps to get close to solid wood sound with a fraction of the price.
-often people will go only for looks, go more in depth. Ask for warranty or after sales service. That's important. It's like buying you handphone and knowing where is the service centre though you never want to visit them. :D
-Sound and action. This will determine if you like the guitar or not. Looks will only appeal to the audience but the sound will mesmerize you for good! If it feels good and sound good, grab it.
-go all out to try, don't depend on any of us here recomending you anything. The best judge is yourself :)

at that price if you want a pickup, i would recommend that you buy one without pickup and install when you have the cash. otherwise, look for a second hand piece. if really insistent on the pickup now, do check out some Corts or Ibanez.
