Hello all... im thinking of getting a new double pedal soon and i can't decide which to go for... Pearl eliminator with the interchangeable cams or tama iron cobra... FWIW, which pedal do u think its better??? i've seen both reviews on the pedals and although the pearl is a wee bit cheaper than the iron cobras, they have better reviews on them... (from musicianfriends)....

help resolve my misery once and for all please??? any help is forwarded with a gracious thanks to that fellow saviour!!

best regards

I've played Iron Cobra since 99 when it was introduced earlier.

Likes:

a) Infinite adjustment of the beater angle and footboard height.
b) Sturdy construction.

Dislikes:

a) Bulky carrying case.
b) Only 3 cam design restriction*
c) Only one beater head design

I admitted that I was kinda ignorant when talking abt other brands/models other than the Iron Cobras. When i discovered Pearl Elims, it was a different ball game. I never turn back and i went to Pearl Elims all the way.

Likes:

a) 5 cam designs for different feel*
b) Sleek design
c) Not-so bulky carrying case
d) 4 types of beater head designs.

Dislikes:

a) Limited adjustments for the beater head and the footboard angle.
b) Not for jamming studio use.
c) Not as durable as Iron cobra as it is preferable to just personal use.

Note*:

To directly compare Pearl Elims and Iron Cobra side by side is like comparing a Mercedes and a BMW. Different people have different feel and preferences on how their personal shld be.

I've listed my own comparisons between these two products as I've played on both.

Its up to us drummers to choose as we are purchasing and using it as an investment.

Only U can decide which one to purchase.

Yeah I agree with Shred 5,

Some of my friends swears by the Iron Cobra and some others the Eliminator. If u decided on one, don't regret it, just practice hard and the result will show.

alrighty mate thanks for all the help/.. anyways, how much would an eliminator cost first hand at swee lee??? and do they give hands on or try outs with that product??? im thinking of getting the elims... but i need to get the feel of it b4 buying em... thanks!!!

Glad to be of help.:D

As picky as we are on stuffs to purchase and all that, at the end of the day, its individual preferences.

:D The thing the gets me excited bout the Cobra is out of the box factory settings. The slave hardly lags which is simply wonderful for 32nd note rolls. I have problems with other pedals lagging pretty bad. Honestly two Pacific or Maxtone pedal singles is terrific enuff and cheap. The Cobras can be set really heavy or really light depending on your preference.

The Elims are a versetaile pedal. You have 4 or 6 (x2) pedals for the price of one. I prefer the strap drive but the connecting bar always seems to have problems. Axis is supposed to have zero backlash which makes both pedals just as smooth, and have recently corrected a design flaw witht he connecting shaft too. We cant just try it in the shop and say hey it sucks, we got to take it home and try adjusting it to our feel

The Camco and the Pearl P1002 is not bad too. The Camco is slightly heavy but smooth and the Pearl is just like the eliminator but without the cam changes.

Even I am in a supreme dilemma if I should get the pearl red cam straps or the cobra powerglides or flexi. Thought of saving up and buying em Axis :P The flying dragons are cool too and like the Axis,Camco and DW it can be converted into two singles.

MAke sure you share your experiance with us !

marc!!

If its too hard for U to choose between the Elims and the Iron Cobra, why not have both!! :P

Or something like this!!

If by asking opinions and advice seems like a hassle to U, in the first place U shldn't have ask. If U want some info, and then ppl provide it with sincerity and U and not thankful, then I'm sorry to say that U are not worth to be helped at all.

U want to be spoonfeed but u wont open ur mouth!! :x

Next time, don't ask!!

Ppl nowadays!!

sorry to offend u but what i meant by leceh is that the eliminator iron cobra hybrid looks really tempting and im a real avid DIY'er... so i find it leceh/tedious doing that... haha!! sorry to bring up the wrong conception... i do apprietiate everyone of your responses and take note of every one of them...

would'nt it tedious to do that hybrid pedal amirite??? but its definately doable!@!

You can go the pearl forums dude and check the thread on IC and Elims and other pedals, slipknot1 will give you some tips on how to make the hybrid pedal. You can also see broken footboards of DW5000 for you to enjoy. Elims is as DIY as it get with all the adjustments. I have seen Death Metal drummers using the same IC for years, just changing the springs occasionnaly. Of course now theres the Axis!

I am also interested in the Yamaha Flying Dragons. :P

We should henceforth change this thread name to Iron Cobra, Flying Dragon!

the appropriate term should be crouching cobra hidden dragon haha!!! sounds like im going to fork out a more than expected amount of money for this hybrid... anyways, thanks mate..!

hi guys,

got a quick question about the iron cobras, i remember seeing somehwere that the POWERglide will be slightly louder and the ROLLING glide will be slight faster consdier a simliar playing, is that true?

thanks, that means during sweelee sale it will be 240?

In your dreams  I think that's already 20% off, and there's no guarantee there'll be a yr end sale, and there's no guarantee the pedals will be discounted too..
