i have a ibanez grx 40 with ssh confirgration. the humbucker is change to an emg 85. the 2 single coil are stock. planning to change the neck pickup to those hotrails type. will this setup up work? as the wiring for the pickups are differnt.
who do i go for repair? have bad expirence at dav*s after fixing the emg. my guitar came back with slight scretch and the pickguard is poorly cut to fit the emg. not as in they are f***ed up. they seemed to know their stuff well.
jus improper handling i guess. anyway jus looking for a better luither.

Mixing actives and passives would definitely work. Sure the wiring is different, but once you take it to an experienced tech, it's easy. Like all other recommendations, take your guitar down to Yamaha Music Plaza at Plaza Sing since that's where you'll get the hotrails and stuff, and get the wonderful tech Beez to do it up for you. Satisfaction more or less guaranteed.

Yes it would work, but due to the different values in pots used, the combined position would be muddier than usual and hence not recommend unless you can live with the compromise.

+1

However, you can give it a shot with a few modifications. Maybe connecting the passives to a higher value pot before connecting it, so as to balance out the tone.

You can give it shot. Not sure it'll work, though.
