Something better than the SA-1? You mentioned, raw top, but I assume you mean solid top. You're on the right track, but, don't forget that the SA-1 is a grand-auditorium shaped guitar. They are inherently lacking in volume, a dreadnought or a jumbo will address that problem they'll also sound bigger and more robust, as compared to the GA-shaped SA-1.
With 600bucks, you can find some really nice solid tops around. Just don't limit yourself to just a GA-shaped guitar.
I've no idea what your last sentence meant either. An electric-acoustic is acoustic guitar fitted with pickups/microphone/transducers. When people just say 'electric', they tend to mean those solid-bodied electric guitars. Like Strats, Teles, LPs, the list goes on.
