Help needed: Setting up old midi keyboard to mac

Hi all,

I have this really old version of a creative midi keyboard (blasterkeys I think) I used back in the late 90s, which I used to connect via the joystick port to my PC. Its a really simple keyboard and does not use any external power I believe.

However, I'm using a mac laptop now and it doesn't have the joystick port. I was wondering if this device:

would allow me to connect my midi keyboard to my mac running OSX. Also what midi programmes would you guys recommend me to use?

I'm a real newbie at this, ha... Really hoping for some advice
