help needed for cutting/shaping of a aluminium plate

HI GUYS!!
i have a 3mm thick aluminium checkered plate...does anyone here have the tools to cut and shape it?
i would need to shape it into a pickguard.....does anyone have contacts of anyone who can do?

Hi Bro,

I think you can use a sheering scissors offset by 3mm from the outline. File down edges afterwards. Alternatively is a minirouter with a spiral saw. 3mm alu is quite easy to cut.

prlly i will jus get a jigsaw n cut myself...i tried geting some quotes locally n they were nt feasible...some went as high as $375....

bro the shearing scissors cost about $8.90 - $10+ at local hardware shops. Do take note that ur alum plate will bent thus causing an obvious dent even if you were to polish it. Alternatively you could get a mini grinder at carefour for $20+ and use the cutting attachment for ur pickguard shape. It also can be use as a polishing buffer. Happy DIY!

go find a metal/ weld/ exhaust workshop
not the boutique ones with 10 sales executives
lookout for any old vintage looking ah pek who works alone, maybe + 1 auntie
ask him nicely, or bribe him kopi, or something if you lucky he charge cheap cheap...

you can get a coping saw with a hack saw blade to do it..and later file its with a flat file to neaten it up..its quite easy considering aluminium is a soft metal..
