this has probably been posted before but did a search, pretty vague.

i recently tinkered around with my borrowed guitar, partly because i was trying out the malmsteen signature strings.. the gauge v odd. now its really screwed..i need a pro to help me set it back to 'normal' then i'll stick to super slinkys forever..

note: my guitar is a squier strat i hate it! but at least it works.barely.my biggest problem is the pickups. very very weak..anyway...

Q1. where to setup my guitar?
Q2. how much?
Q3. thanks to all.

GODEATERS

called him today. he said it was $45. really shocked me. really steep, for an hours work.
anyone know anywhere/anyone who can do it for cheaper?

$45 is reasonable, not expensive or cheap, just reasonable, imho

setting up usally include string change, action adjustment, bridge adjustment, intonation, simple nut job perhaps, etc plus some extras(e.g correction of any mistake which arise from owner own experiment in setting up, like in your case) depending on the gutiar techie.

Anyway, the recommendation shud come in... But then, the prices usually all around there(+/- a bit here there) or in some cases, much higher than that for techie with lotsa experience doing setup AND known for doing good job.

With lower cost one, there might be uncertanties, even thou the person can do a good job as others who ask for more, but you be taking a gamble on the instrument that you are into. If the instrument is fine, then fine, you can also pull in more biz for the techie also, thru word of mawth. But then, if it doesnt solve the problem in the first place, then perhaps you will have to spend more on getting another set up.

Imho.

Trust Beez. He's da man! We all been through what you've been through bro, and no, most GOOD technicians charge around there.

Now I'm a tad out of touch, but I know that these are the people you might want to talk to; and/or take your guitar to...

Raymond, Hairul (Luthermusic)
Anthony (G77)
Beez - (Look For Beez)

of course there are others (forgive me if I left you out; but these are the people who have handled my guitar prior, in no particular order. And these are the people I'll trust my guitars with.

Cheers
