Help me out about guitar effects

I'm thinking of buying guitar effects at the end of the year. I came up with a combo but not sure if it'll sound good.

MXR Micro amp
Boss Mega Distortion
MXR Dyna Comp
MXR Six Band EQ
Boss Digital Delay

Also wondering what to use as a power supply?

newbie here

It would help alot if you can give us the following details:

1) What tone you want to achieve. Name bands/guitarists/CDs/anything
2) What gear do you have now?
3) Whats your budget
4) Any MUST have effects?

Looking at your list here, I'll scrap off the Boss Mega Distortion straightaway because I think it sounds really bad.

I guess i want saosin/circa survive/underoath kind of sound if it's possible.

I have a epiphone dot guitar but i'll be changing the pickups soon. No effects at all.

I have a part time job which pays 700 sumthin per month. Assuming i get 700 per month i put aside 200 for my phone bill so that leaves me with 500.

Distortion is must have.

power supply just go to hardware shop and get can already. about $10 only.

cheap and good

VERY bad idea

those multi-voltage adaptors you find in hardware shops are not meant for musical instruments. you WILL experience a very obvious hum when used with your pedals.

MT-2 if you want a high gain Boss pedal. Then a nice delay, DE7 maybe, or then again, you can get one of the zoom multi efx or the boss GT8

If you're using a dot, you might want to go with more crunch than gain. Otherwise you'll be in hum land. Maybe Boss Super Overdrive would do the trick. Need a bit more gain then get the Super distortion.

Actually if you get a visual sound route 66, you'll settle 2 on your list. You can can replace the dynacomp and have a overdrive as well. Its a tube-screamer sounding pedal btw, so if its not enough gain then look at what I said before.

Slowly get your stuff, don't get one shot. Settle on your base tone 1st before getting other things (like solo boost and delay).

+1
This is true.

Perhaps it will be better if you settled your tone brick by brick, pedal by pedal.

On top of the Gear forum, there is a SHARE thread, see the people with gear you like? PM them and ask them for reviews or even drop by their place to test things out.

I think a good efx to start with is definately a od/dist box. Straight off my head, I'll point out the Sansamp GT2 or TRI AC (www.tech21nyc.com).

Btw, you haven't told us what amp you are using.

Or something with good cleans to build your effects on. Will you be gigging/jamming often? If you will be I would suggest you don't rely on amp distortion, unless you intend to bring your amp along when you jam.

going from the hcm10 to a cube 15 is hardly an upgrade. stick with ur current amp till u know for sure wat u really like, u tried any of the pedals u listed?

hey man,
if you want, i can help you out, just pm me your msn or contact number, lets have a chat abt what you really need and stuff.
