Hi guys,

New to this forum. Just need your opinions on these guitars. My budget is around $1000 SGD. I play everything from clean classical music to metal... I know that's quite a big jump and that is y i am looking for a very versatile guitar. I have been looking around for ages but the more i look, the more it confuses me. Would greatly appreciate your help!!!

Guitars in mind:
1) PRS custom 24 se (from davis guitar.. although i think they selling it pretty expensive at $900 compared to US 399-499)
2) Swing Prism SE $1200 (seems like alot of good hardware for that price)
3) Fender highway 1 $1300
4) Marlique deluxe $999
5) Schecter C1-FR (not sure how much and never used EMGs b4 so dunno if can play any decent cleans)
6) wait for the prs torero to come out =D

Thanks,
Kenneth

i'm waiting for the Korina singlecut (SE)...

IMO Davis' prices are fair, not excessive, not too appealing...

you might want to consider the (Ibanez) SZR models as well

The Swing Prism is a fantastic product at a great price. Well built guitar with superb tones oozing outta it!

thx guys,

yeah i know the custom se line for PRS has been discontinued other then the hollow bodied one which i dont really like.

I want a trem on my guitar that why i am leaning towards those options. and not the korina but thx for the input.

Im kinda leaning towards either the swing or the marlique.

The swing seems pretty cool for the price but i wonder if it can play metal properly. (should it since it has SD JBs on them?)

Anyone have any thoughts on the marlique prs styled guitar. It has nyahto wood and tesla pickups which i have no idea about.

Thanks.
Kenneth

The Swing Prism should be able to handle heavy stuff because of the humbucker.

I've tried the Marliques and I find them to be very dark sounding because of the woods used, somewhat like how Les Pauls typically sound, and I think they'd be well suited for blues, jazz, rock and metal. I wouldn't use them for other genres though.

Maybe you should look up guitarists who have similar style to yours& check out what they use& look harder cos not all of them will use exhorbitantly priced axes but if I were you, I won't rush into anything yet. Scout the studios, internet& maybe try buiding one yourself with help from folks who're more intuned.

If you want something that's unique& personal that is.

Hey guys thanks for your input. Has been very useful. =D
Just wondering. There is the prism and prism se. The se being the one with the maple top. Any thoghts on whether the maple top will make the guitar too bright sounding??? Because i remembered someone telling me that they put maple top on mahogany bodies to make it sounds "brighter". So what effect will it have with the maple top on an alder body?
