Hi, i am setting up a home made studio. Used for jamming and recording music. But, i'm a totally newbie regarding all the stuff needed here.

I'm talking about mixers (analog/digital), mics, amps, preamps, power ap, speaker and on and on... Please help me come up with a list as well as it's cost...

This studio will be like those jamming studio out there today or maybe not as good... The sole purpose is to be a jamming studio for practice..

It must be expandable, in future i can get everything to work well for recording...

1. Mixer - I guess i know what this is, combines all the sounds and mix them together... The place where i adjust each channel of audio so as to "gel" them together into a work of art.

2. Preamp - A gd preamp is very important ya?

3. Mics - I'm not much of a singer, never knew anything about mics.\

4. Power amp - Power? Amp?

5. Speakers - Where the vocals come through?

6. Monitor - Hear everything mixed.

7. Others - Cables, stands, misc.

And, how do i get everything connected together. I have individual amps for my instruments like guitar, bass, electronic drums etc...

Budget not finalised but can be up to a few K.

Thanks for the help~

1. correct. take 7 colours and blend them together into a rainbow.

2. Preamp - a preamp that works and performs its purpose well is good enough unless you're doing pro recording etc.

3. Mics - er... usually jam studios use shure sm58 / sennheisser mics. minimum feedback or somethin.

4. Power amp - this one not sure. power up speakers or somethin

5. Speakers - singsong > mic > preamp/mixer > speaker

6. Monitor - you talking about headphones?

7. Others - ya ya ya

get everything connected together - instrument > mic > preamp/mixer > etc..

yea, you probably realised I've answered loads of them by reading my "past posts" profile..

see la , i've been thinking of doing it for ages like how to record your darnself idiot/noobie proof method but been really busy with work..
