Hmm.

All music is selling this Squire Affinity Telecaster for $400-$500. I tried it earlier... not sure why people kept dissing the affinity series but this one had a clear finish and it doesn't look nor sound like plywood.

Give it a try. Very close to a true Tele sound. Would have bought it myself if not for the fact I already own a Telecaster.

Crawl, you're saying the Affinity Tele = twangy? which = true tele tone?

it seems as though he wants beefiness of hums but yet with a nice treble response.

1. i have a suggestion, get a lespaul, then have ur guitar modded such that you can split the pups to give u single coil tones (still wont sound like a strat but its still something).

2. get a Fat Strat style (H-S-S) config...so u get beefiness of a humbucker in the bridge and true single coil glassiness at the mids and neck

i guess u should get a moderate level guitar. squire tele or strat would be a good start in your case. the price is 200+. although i have a collection of good guitars lately i've been using a guitar which i bought on impulse. its brand is Timbre which cost me $189.00. quite a good investment. its strat look. you could see or try it at www.standardvalue.com.sg. look for mike if u wanna test it. he has fenders, ibanez guitars too. compared to other shops, his prices are far better and cheap. location: north/woodlands central.

Hmm.

Whooo chill guys. Well, as I said it sounded pretty close to the real deal, but not EXACTLY like it. Regarding the affinity series, I would suggest you guys check it out and hear for yourselves and not rely too much on hear-say. This is applicable to any guitar brand, not just squire.

Just a short review.. the finish looks alright (9/10), two-piece maple neck feels good (satin). Default action felt okay too. Tuners a little stiff, but not unusable. But understand that I played it for only 2 minutes and whithin that short period I would not have been able to analyse too much because I had to rush off.

But on a side note, my personal belief is that twang comes from a combination of the guitar's inherent tonal characteristics and the players' right hand technique.

I_M_Ken... I've just re-read the TS post... and I don't really see where he might have stated (as you have seemed to have read it) "wouldnt want an Affinity Squire".

Back to thread.

Crawl, i assumed that when u mean true tele tone, it meant a twangy brighter tone.

Coz from the TheadStarter's initial post, he mentioned he wanted a bouncy beefy tone, which is quite different from a twangy bright tone. and he says he loves the sound of an epi les paul which are naturally alot thicker and warmer sounding than teles

Hmm.

Ah okay I see your point now. Well fair enough. I merely wished to share with him a good deal. But if he wishes to have a bouncy, beefy tone I would suggest Epiphone as well. MIC or not, technology is improving and I've tried out 3 MIC Epis of various models. They seem okay to me.

oh wow.thanxx so much for the responses.but im like kinda even confused now.hahaha.yeah its true i like the warm think sound of an epi but at the same time loving the beefy twangy sound the tele gives.bout customizing im not preety sure bout it.good idea.but im not really skilled in this kinda stuff & i do have a budget.so do u guys happen to know which shops have these items maybe i can try out?& where theyre located at.thanxx a mill guys =)

Hmm.

Just bring a friend to peninsular basement and try out the guitars in your budget. See if you like the sound, and if you are comfortable with the guitar. Your best guides are your hands and your ears and objective information.

i agree with CD... review can only go that far.. every1 of us have our own preference.. if reading review is a must i suggest you start reading harmony central.. that place will have more solid end user review.. not 1.. but loads of them.. read all e good n bad there..

if not, just go with crawldaddy.. go down n try like mad.. close your eyes if you need :D

Hmm.

Gr3y! You sabo! Now I have to entertain more people asking me gear questions. Hahah... I'm pretty busy this week and I'll be away soon anyway. Find Gr3y lah, with him you can close your eyes and float away...

Gr3y, alot of reviews on harmonycentral are very substandard and most cant be trusted from what i've read over the years. But of course there are solid ones as well no doubt.

my suggestion would be to just check out some reviews, then go to guitar shops to try them out. because as Gr3y and Crawl said, its really up to personal preference on what we all like. and you should choose something which u feel comfortable playing

its about the same criteria finding a girlfriend

you have to be compatible with her, not because others told you so
