HELP!! Ibanez GSA60 or Epiphone Vintage Faded G400?

hey everyone. im going to go straight to the point.

i've got my eyes on two guitars recently, which i tried at swee lee.

the ibanez GSA60 gave me the nice lead tone i wanted and really warm
sounding clean tones when i played some chords. but it couldn't really
get the crunchy tone i wanted from the humbucker (its a S-S-H) while
dishing out some power chords. the price is cheap, 320 according to the
SL salesman. but, its available in blue only, and it looks kinda gay to me!

i also tried the epi vintage faded g400. the thing is.. im a sucker for SGs!!
wanted one from last time. tonewise, it was better than other epi SGs in
terms of clean, and distortion is as crisp as ever. the overall feel was
better compared to the GSA60, and it sure looks mighty wicked! the prob
is that its 740 (according to the website).. and i can't really afford it now..
so if i were to get this i might get it during the year-end sale. (and i really
REALLY want the worn cherry version!!)

other alternatives would be to check out schecter guitars or get seymour
duncan pickups for my current guitar. i've had my eyes on the dual rail
set (250 bucks, at davis) for a lil 59, duckbuckers and jb. jr.

my current set up is a Silvertone SS11 Revolver (S-S-S). the tone is actually
quite awesome and the set up is perfect for me. but... i find that the
pick-ups aren't that responsive as i want it to be. cant really hold those
notes.

im running it through my Zoom G2.1u. love the pedal. can make any guitar
sound like heaven! can get anything from blues to metal, nice clean and
awesome reverb.

and lastly.. my amp is a Samick SS-10. i like the clean on this and the
overdrive can be warm, but turned up a lil too high and it gets muddy.

i've been playing guitar for two years only but i do like to try complex stuff..
i play muse, oasis, metallica, eric clapton, satriani (try to), neil zaza,
creed, guns n roses, etc. you get my point. i try everything. -_-
basically, i want something that can handle blues, to rock and roll and
metal! i need your help on this one guys?

p.s. might swee lee mid year sale include the sg?

if you really want a faded G-400, better get it soon...
cos the new batches of faded G-400 have no neck binding.

so basically its now just a regular G-400 with a faded finish, whereas before it was special cos it was the only epi SG with neck binding.

neck binding adds zilch to tone. hope you have read the Epi Faded G400 review in the database...

seems that you have a thing for Epi SG, then go for it. the GSA60 isn't a substitute, it's simply another guitar with a different offering (diff neck joint/ pickups config/ electronics/ etc...).

subversion:
yeah i've read the review. it motivated me to try it out in the first place.. i had read on other websites such as ultimate-guitar and harmony-central regarding epi SGs.. but all had negative views regarding her ability to play clean.. but after reading your review and trying it out for myself, i was quite impressed with the tone lol..
and i asked one of the salesman at swee lee for an all rounded guitar, and he passed to me the ibanez.. i was alredy impressed with the tone, and when i saw the price i was wondering if they had made a mistake. (as in the wrong price tag)

keithC:
it looks really good and its a good deal.. but.. its a used sg for 3 years.. thats like longer than the duration ive been playing the guitar man! with only one pic, im not sure if there might be any defects. anyways im pming him now.. thanks guys!

Hmmm.....wat types of music are u into?Maybe this can help us determine better which one u shld go for. Of course, only your ears will tell u what's gd and what's not, tone is subjective.Happy hunting anyways. I recommend the G-400 Faded btw.

My 2 cents.

loldude333:
im mainly into rock and roll and metal. but i wanna be a versatile player, so i try blues as well.. so.. i need an all-rounded guitar! the thing is i like both in terms of tone, but the price and looks kinda affects wat im favouring.. and thanks for the recommendation!

shameless but,

get my sg. custom in the bridge will cater to your rock and most brutal needs. p-90 in the neck will handle the blues no doubt!

the Ibanez GIOs are entry-level guitars, do keep this in mind. personally, i'm not too keen on the offerings but i only have good things to say about the GAX-70/ GSA120 8)
