Help! How to sweep pick?

im 17 and i can sweep pick albeit not perfectly

ilovegm, think of it as an animated strum instead of a slow one. It works that way so that the edge of the picks glides and "drops" up and down every string to have each string ringing out one by one.

zesn, well...in a sense it's easy, but still a lot of practice is needed to be really good at it. I know of guitarists who sweep it up like there's no tomorrow. It goes to show that technique wise you must be proficient enough to nail it, just like how you practiced alternate picking.

I've got the technique down but there are still some important steps which I need to follow by when I sweep pick cleanly and effeciently. Slowly lah, practice makes perfect, that's all I can say.

And to the TS, I can try teaching you the basics, since I've got that down. But first, do you..

Know your basic alternate picking?
know how to do hammer ons and pull offs?

If so, I'll show you how to do basic sweep picking.
