help! alternate picking or economy picking? or random?

There's no right or wrong method, though many and i personally feel alternate picking seems faster but if you are comfortable playing with downstrokes all the time, be my guest. Playing guitar should reflect who you are, your own style.

I usually use a combination of both. I had a mentor who made use alternate picking strictly, but i just felt that there's some stuff you can do with economy picking that you cant do with alternate picking.
