Yamaha C-50 - I saw someone selling... But I am not sure because some reviews said the quality of sound is not great... I don't really have much detail of it yet.

$35 Kapok - There is this guy who said that he will sell his Kapok steel guitar for $35(+string and a cheap bag). I am not sure if I should buy it.. I mean, $35 is a great bargin, but is the guitar worth it? Here are some problems I am worried about :
1) Kapok is not very well know brand, so maybe it's not a good guitar
2)This guitar has 2 scrathes on it's neck... Would that effect the sound of the guitar?
3)Seller said it's "old and dusty", the neck of guitar is not long, and it doesn't have 'cut aways'...

As a beginner, I have no idea. Which should I buy? The Yamaha or Kapok? Please help me out by poll and/or reply. Thanks.

P.S: Poll is about KAPOK guitar
Here are pics of the KAPOK I am thinking about buying:

since ur just starting out... why do you need a 'cutaway' i doubt u will go so far up the fret board......

I don't even know waht 'cutaway' means  ,but I guess it really doesn't matter for now. Hm... So do you think I should buy it for now?.. To pratice?

Hm... the only difference I see is the part that is cut away... What makes a cutaway so special?

the cut away enables access to the upper frets..tts all i noe.

Save up for a more quality axe. Once you get better , and start desiring for better sound and playability, it will cost more to get a new guitar.

Classical...if I'm not wrong...acoustics have headstocks like electrics and classicals have those open things...

And the fretboard on classicals are really limited...at least on the ones I've tried...it stops at the 12th fret...that's it...absolutely horrid...not to mention the huge fretboard...

Maybe if you play for 2-3 months, the guitar will kapok itself...

hey bro if u HAVE to get a kapok, then go get a brand new one for under $50 bucks, an old one for $35 isnt worth in IMHO.

by the way, kapok is pretty well known to guitarists, because of the crazy price tags. I personally havent tried one before tho. :)

Er, first of all, I am not "bro". My gender is female. Just to let you know. :P
Anyhow, so how much is a brand-new Kapok worth?

And I heard from a website that older acoustic guitars are better because of the aging wood. Is it true?

save up a little more and get a nice yamaha

Hmm.. Well, I have seem 3 ads selling yamaha.

1) Yamaha (didn't mention the model) - $50 - SOLD
2) Yamaha (didn't mention the model either) - $30 - SOLD
3) Yamaha (C-50) - $50 - still selling, I saw some reviews that it doesn't really have a good quality...

So how about this? $50 Yamaha(C-50) VS. $35 Kapok?

Yeah, I know Yamaha C-50 is a classical guitar. I am still not quite sure if I should buy a steel or classical. Which do you think is better?

IMO..whether u shud get classical or acoustic depends on the type of songs u intend to play..

tts my opinion only la..i may be wrong..

oops sorry, anyway i think that classical or acoustic, its up to you lah, no "better" kind. But for strumming at a picnic or wat...acoustic sounds nicer to me. :)

Hmm.

My suggestion: save up, like give yourself a $300 range and get yourself a nice 2nd hand cort or yamaha or Maestro.

Always remember to bring someone experienced to try out the guitar.. you can only trust the salesperson's opinion to a certain degree.
