hi there, andrew here. i've been coming to soft for awhile to check up on gigs and the buy/sell sections. now i've decided to just introduce myself.
23 this year, completing ns end of year.
got a diploma in film, sound and video from ngee ann poly
formally trained in piano. informally bashing at guitar.
i like a wide range of music, from all the stuff you will find on pitchforkmedia.com (and the stuff that influenced the bands on there) to the most brutal death metal. sometimes my playlist will jump from, say, a camera obscura track to a nile one.
as far as heavy music goes, i like mine challenging e.g. botch, converge, isis, deathspell omega. the exact subgenre isn't important. creativity and emotion are key. i can't stand power metal and (strangely) most prog metal though.
fave albums off the top of my head:
neutral milk hotel - in the aeroplane over the sea
weezer - blue album
weezer - pinkerton
radiohead - amnesiac
my bloody valentine - loveless
flaming lips - the soft bulletin
sonic youth - daydream nation
gorguts - obscura
circle takes the square - as the roots undo
converge - jane doe
isis - oceanic
botch - we are the romans
listening to a lot of nachtmystium recently. no idea why.
