Project brief - hypothetical 2nd wave Norwegian black metal band has a bright idea to try and play hardcore, has no idea what hardcore is & writes songs which they "think' is hardcore, but it is actually not. It ends up being some uncomfortable sounding proto-grindcore that fits in nowhere & everywhere at the same time.
So we have 8 songs demo-ed & ready to be recorded in March 2026. What is missing is a voice - the female rage; unhinged, unthethered, primal, ancient cosmic mother wrapped in Gaza barbed wire.
3 candidates have been offered the role - one passed after hearing a demo track & deciding modern deathcore & beatdown was more her thing, the second (a very awesome hijabi friend) declined after learning about the proposed album title, the third paused for a while before concluding that her other musical projects & personal matters had to be sorted out first.
Our take - it's a monumental ask. The role asks you to approach it from an artistic view; the content, ideology & subtexts demands that you put aside everything that you understand to be "good" & "accepted" & channel that Yin energy to be both accuser & punisher, the Kali-amma trope made flesh & to constantly relive the defining moment where prophet Isa (peace be upon him) overturns the tables in the temple & becomes public enemy to the Pharisees.
