Hey Peeps,

any HD300 users out there? Wanna get some feedback on the unit. Was looking at City Music's site they have it on sale. Surfed the web n checked it out on youtube also but best to get feedback from the folks here. All feedback appreciated. Any one also tried the HD300 and the Korg AX 3000? Thanks in advance for all the feedback!

i owned the ax3000g and using the podhd.

the pod is definitely better drivewise and mod wise. people say best result is with monitor speakers. but im using tube amp so
may not be 100% tone of the pod hd.

Definitely the HD300. Bought one at City Music. The demo set was hooked up to a pair of monitor speakers and it sounded great. I would recommend getting the 400 or best the 500 (if budget is not your main concern), as the 300 doesn't have a dedicated bank up/down buttons unless you are fine with stepping two buttons at the same time to cycle through the banks or turning the preset button

For the expression pedal, is there a switch to engage the wah on the pedal or u have to scroll thru one of the preset buttons?

Both methods of engaging the wah is possible. However, the switch located directly below the pedal takes quite alot of effort to engage (to the extent of leaning forward). It's better to head down to the shop and try it out

Choose wisely though, HD300 and HD400 is not as flexible as HD500, because Line6 squeezed few important efx together at 1 bank for both HD300 & HD400 (for ex: Drive & EQ are in 1 bank) meaning you can't activate both Drive and EQ at the same time, you can only choose one, and also in case you are plugging your POD into power amp section of other amp, only HD500 offer you the function of switching the cab simulation totally off, while both 300 and 400 are unable to do that.

HD300 is very excellent value for money purchase if you are only looking to use the amp modelling function
Choose HD500 if you are planning to use all the efx + amp modelling and all the extra versatility of the POD.

Thanks for all the info..really appreciate it..now starting to look at the 500 also..headache haha

im not so sure about the difference between using tube amp, ss amp and monitor speakers. im planning to go to city music soon to have a listen. but im suspecting that since my tube amp has alot of character, it affects the tone of the pod thus not solely the pod's tone im hearing.

about the 500, agreed. now that i have the 300, i feel like i can do so much more. 5 steps (amp, drive, mod, delay, reverb) stuck is not really flexible.

500 users, can i like have the flexibility of having say, no drive and 5 delay and 3 mod? example.

Yes, with HD500 you can, as long as it does not reach the DSP limit of the HD500 itself (Some efx uses alot of the DSP processing power where it has limit). I've seen people using 7 efx at the same time and it's still going good, (with the Amp modelling on too). and in HD500 you can switch off the Amp model too.

If you are planning to use with your Tube amp's efx loop, HD500 is the way to go, you can turn to no cab function and just use the preamp of your selected amp model, it will "reduce" the coloration of your tone since now it's just pure signal from the preamp without the EQ from the cab simulation. HD300 and HD400 offer that function in this switch at the rear panel called "Live" if i'm not wrong, but that does not remove the cab simulator totally.

Go down to City music and check it out in person Bro.

ok thanks! i'll probably head down to city music tomorrow. Weekday is the best time..weekends are chaotic there! Was also looking at the Line 6 M9. that doesnt have the expression pedals.. is that the only main diff?

Nope, M9 only has stompbox modelling, while HD300 has amp modelling. But I wouldn't rely on the M9 for drives, only would use it for everything else, heh.

Go during the week, and before 4pm. Sometimes you might be the only customer in the store.

M9 has an expression pedal input (2, in fact), use any external expression pedal with the proper stereo cable.

Pod HD vs M-series has been discussed pretty well in this thread.

Am using the Kurzweil monitors, very good for the price. Neutral tone which is great for the modelling stuff.

Sorry another novice question..how do u connect the monitor speakers to the pedalboard? Do you need any additional devices?

nope, just need an RCA to quarter inch jack cable. I have one that i'm not using that I bought from CM if you wanna buy from me.
