Have you also had a surreal experience?

Went to SL to get a tuner.
Then asked about Ibanez Artcore but the model I'm interested in is not available.

OK, how long will it be if I were to order it?
About 3-4 months because there's a more or less fixed shipment schedule.
Can I know the indicative price, after discounts and what not?
Oh, we can't give you that because the person in charge will quote you when you place the order.
Ok, but how do I know if I will place an order unless I know the price, and then weigh that against my budget and other considerations?
Well you go can on the 'Net and find out the list price and do a conversion then.
Ok, I can do that, not a problem. But there's a discount, right?
Oh, not all models will have a discount. We will only know when an order is placed. The retail price is just an indication.
So, I'll have to go with the list price from the web, that's what you are saying then? Ok, thanks for your help.

Is it always so hard?

*Please note that there was no lack of attentiveness or politeness on the sales person's part, and no ask-for-the-sake-of-askingness on my part. And we had enough English between us. I guess the gods were just not with us then.

alternatively, you can ask the people here if we have come across the Artcore model you are interested in... which would be?

Sub, it's the AFS75T. Web says US$533.
So, is there a discount on this? Anyone bought one lately, or even not so lately?
Thanks for your help.

533 USD online
if sweelee were to get it shipped in
its gonna be probably 533 usd + shipping fees
which could cost up to 600usd or more
den of course they are gonna make some profits
so 600usd + maybe 100-200 usd profits
if they were to give u a discount
they might jack up da price so they still earn as much profits
total cost probably 1k sing
so just order it online

this is just my point of view tho
it might not be right

Actually, Remy, US$533 is Ibanez LIST price.
Online (e.g. Musiciansfriend, etc) sells it for US$399 with free shipping within USA. I can ask Singpost vpost for their shipping charges.
But I rather buy here and support the local shops (if the choice is there)

so i take it that you're not looking for a second-hand one?
maybe you can try some other places. other than swee lee. make sure other shops don't have them before placing an order?

Sure, Jug, if anyone has a 2nd one in good condition, I will consider it. Did post a wtb on soft, but no luck so far. Which other shops sell Ibanez?

u can try all music
discuss with da lady owner
she can help u bring in certain models and give u a better price den sweelee

Ahahahaahahaha

DUDE, i also experienced the exact same thing. but mine is with a china made bass.exact conversation i had, but i did get a rough price quote which scared the hell out of me. would you pay more than 1k plus on a china made bass?

Music Ensemble at Dhoby Ghaut also can order in brand new Ibanez models, you give them the model and they can bring it in, and the pricing is reasonable. That's what I'm told. I plan to get all my Ibanezs from them.

Dude.. A good instrument IS a good instrument.. I suggest one thing..
NEVER EVER look at where the guitar is made or assembled..
It's the dumbest factor which only affects the resale price..
I've seen quality products from China, Indonesia, or any other countries which are less respected for their craftsmanship..

Hi Bro,

I apologise if you had encountered such experience with the salesperson.
May I suggest you drop Adam @ the Bras Basah Showroom for a direct and non-obligatory quote and the approximate shipping period. He would be able to help you out on it.

His email : adam@sweelee.com.sg
Tel: 6336 7886

Cheers,
M.I

Thanks

MI, no problems lah - it's just that sometimes it does seem extra hard buying from you guys (!). No worries then, I will drop Adam an email on this. Thanks for getting back on this.
