Has anyone tried..splitted sticks?

thomas lang showed basically more or less all the twirling moves out there when he came for clinic... you should have caught it man (or you were there? 
)
the good thing i liked about lang was that he did not frown on drumstick twirling as gimmicky, but encouraged us to go ahead and try it. he just said, make sure you can twirl and toss your drumstick in TIME.

in blackwell case, although yes, its kinda for show, but u know... the stuff gets the crowd pumping and excitement level up, so i would say its definitely more than just a gimmick.
i noticed this other thing, drummers that have played for prince (sheila e, cindy blackman, john blackwell etc.) all are polished show people yet have super playing ability. they have not neglected their overall development and made sure they had a balanced focus, which was to develop themselves as an artiste.

come to think of it...i only recognise him after see that video ..i remembered seeing him in another video...hes amazing...

hahaha. no im not from Dnt .
i just went in and requested to the teacher in charge that i wanted to fix my sticks ...
he hesitated so i told him i was top scorer for DnT in sec 1 and i had the best basic knowledge of using the simple equipments in tha workshop..
so yeah ...xD
they don't have steels there...so you can only make a wooden cymbal...
and it'll sound like....

Yeah i ve used splitted sticks before, forced to during a gig. haha. i really hate it! n to me it bounces/rolls ALOT less easily. cuz to me much of the impact or force which is supposed to make the stick bounce is lost to the splitted side which has no contact with the drum itself. thats my own theory but it could be more flawed then a pig with wings. haha i just dislike splitted sticks.
