halloween party??

parents.grandparents. we are cheena acoording to them. and cheena got no haloween or other amercian holis
 
haha i wouldn't mind going to a party if anyone's throwing one! Do we need to go in costume like Halloween?

I'll be going as myself if we need to wear a horror costume :lol:

DEFINATELY CELEBRATING!! but now we just need to know if anyone's interesting in throwing a party with us or anyone wants to invite us..if not, i was thinking we go trick or treating, den go crash someone's party! hahaha!

um....because they're American hols, not Singaporean hols?

well i know why singapore doesn't celebrate thanksgiving. lol. that one's pretty obvious, since it involves American history (though the exact date of thanksgiving was changed a few times by a few different American presidents)

Halloween got its name from the Catholic Church, and it originally started as the celebration of the Celtic New Year. the Romans assimilated the traditions and celebrations. trick or treating started off as an early Christian practice, the details of which i will mercifully spare you because they are long and unrelated. the Jack-O-Lantern tradition is a folk tale involving a trickster named Jack who tricked the devil and was denied entrance to both heaven and hell when he died and was given only a glowing ember to light his way through the darkness. Halloween was brought to America by the pilgrims and irish immigrants, and though turnips were originally used, pumpkins got adopted because they were more widely available.
