AKG
Sennheiser
Audio Technica
Line 6
Samson

i've basically narrowed down my choices to these few brands.

battery life
reliability
interference issues
channels
pricing
ease of use in a live situation
range

im concerned about the above points

maybe those people who are using any one of these systems care to share about your experiences?

thanks in advance

haven't come across line6 or samson wireless before...

ease of use - my personal favourite is Shure but since its not in your list, then the next best for me would be Sennheiser. love the AKG wireless lapel mics, but not sure abt the wireless instruments.

Batt life - it's advisable to always start off the performance (not rehearsal) with a fresh set of batteries. should last you for the entire thing. unless you're doing some sorta music marathon. lol

the only interference issue i had was from shure. picked up the walkie-talkie signal for the security guards. LOL. but solved it by switching channels. but i can't say much cause it's probably a one-time occurence kinda thing.

well, this is prob not from a musician's perspective. sorry if i can't say much abt the rest. stuff i meddle arnd are mostly rented... so price, reliability... :( but i guess same applies to any equipment. take gd care of it, and it'll take good care of u.

I've been using my Sennheiser one for around 5 years or more and throughout my usage, it has not failed me a single time. No issues with interference and I never had to change my settings since day 1, having gigged from busy Orchard streets to Sentosa. Battery life's pretty good (I'm guilty of recycling the batteries for a few gigs *lol*) and so far, the longest durations of gigs I've played are 2, 1-hour set with no problems. Channels are pretty much standard, giving 10 different frequencies to change from (if I'm not wrong). Pricing, wise, I got it around S$500 5 years ago and I'm sure it's much cheaper now or the newer models are more affordable...not too sure about that, so I can't comment. Range wise, I've not played on stadium-size stages but so far, I've not been cut off before. I've once tried it at home with my amp on the 2nd floor and me playing my guitar downstairs with indirect line-of-sight and it still works.

My only complain is its size/weight of the receiver, which is roughly the size of 2 stompboxes. But that being said, it served me well...

Good luck in finding a good one that suits your needs! :)

you should consider the x2, great wireless. its digital so it doesnt compress then expand your signal like analog wireless sets.

Hey niteblade,

I was interested to get a wireless too, but it seems that most places i enquired does not sell.
Did some searching last month, only swee lee sells.. and they have the Samson Airline, costs abt $480 if i remembered correctly
Luther's audio technica is out of stock.
X2 i doubt there's any... asked City Music which carries Line 6 products, and they said they never shipped in the X2.

frenchtoast, you purchased an X2?

hey brice!

are you using one?

the only complaint i heard about the x2 is that it eats batteries up pretty fast

maybe you could tell us more about the unit

does this mean that digital will preserve sound better?

i think a couple of people are using the audio tech units. caracal, trella and west grand boulevard

No im currently not, but was considering the X2 XDS PLUS for awhile but priorities changed and got a lakland instead. But it was very reasonable at 580 and you guys should read up more about it! Since its digital it sounds exactly like a cable and you guys should read up about the facts. stellar unit none the less.

ive been gigging with the X2 for abit...

for people that say it sounds completely like a cable - its NOT true.
there is some slight roll off in the highs - its quite apparent.

but once you compensate via your EQ settings. - its perfect.

decent range ,reliable "good" sound, good battery life , very compact size made this a no brainer for me. Very good price vs performance ratio.

I totally agree with Chanmin.
I'm using both the rackmount and the X2 for a while but with EQ added to it.
After tweaking it alittle.. manage to get somewhat close to a real cable.

Got mine from US.
