lots of fans take their love of their football clubs very seriously and some even fight to the death for their team.

Got to agree with FGL here. I could respect his loyalty to the club but life is waaay too precious. Every day, there are millions of people worldwide fighting to live, doing every damn thing they can to survive, regardless of their age. Life is non-negotiable. How sad too, coz I hear the guy was only 29!!

I believe there's more to that than just the game itself.

However the defeat of his beloved team was the catalyst for his action, of which is nothing to be proud of...

Saddest football related death for me would still be the murder of Andreas Escobar for scoring that own goal...

Oh no. :???: When did that happen? That is beyond sick, man! That's diabolic & plain twisted. More often than not, most football fans are more passionate about their teams than the football players themselves.

RIP to the Arsenal fan.This is just too much to hear regarding suicide and football.Maybe his decision to commit suicide didnt just involve the loss against United.Maybe he had some greater loss too.

Poor guy, killed himself for shoddy Arsenal. I seriously have to give it to C.Ronaldo for that night, incredible pace and talent.
