Guitar wall hanger, wall stud vs solid wall?

Hello everyone,

I recently bought 3 guitar wall hangers from Musicians Friend

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/string-swing-home-and-studio-guitar-keeper-wall-hanger

I am wondering, the instructions say that either to mount on a wall stud or a drywall. But the HDBs in Singapore mostly uses solid brick wall? Would it be okay to just treat the solid brick wall as a stud? I am concerned that my mounting screws may break if I were to mount it on a solid wall.

Feedback will be very much appreciated,

Thank you!

To be safe, I would recommend anchor bolts for all brick / hollow block walls. Some HDB walls are reinforced concrete and if your drill bit hits the steel bars, be sure to relocate to another position. DO NOT attempt to use partial dept inserts for screws. These will eventually loosen and falls out.

For gypsum partitions (dry walls), use self clamping screws / anchors to make sure the hanger is securely fastened.

If you are not familiar with such works, get a qualified contractor to install.
Otherwise, your precious instrument may become road worn in no time.

All the best!

Hi,

I am going to drill the holes and use these. Would these plugs do the trick? I am going to mount on a solid brick wall. Then I will be using the provided screws that come along with my guitar wall hanger. It supports up to 6.8kg.

Thank you!
