Guitar tones sucked up...

Need some advice from fella bros here. I realize that whn my guitar is connected to my pedal board the tones get sucked up abit. Not as clear and bright as when i connect directly to the amp. Not sure where in the signal chain the problem is i cant really isolate it. Everything except the wah (on batteries) is on an isolated power supply. Here's how the chain looks like

Guitar > Ernie ball wah > Forest green comp> Tuner>OCD>Suhr Riot> EP booster> Boss Chorus> TC electronic Flashback > amp.

Even for my riot i get much better clearer tones from the pedals when i connect just the riot to the guitar. But when it's in the signal chain it looses its oomph.. Can anyone advice what i shld be looking at?

Check you patch cables... one of them may have a minor short circuit. It will still work but you loose clarity. Try checking the cables one at a time between 2 pedals plugged to your amp and guitar.

ok will try that 1st..thanks bro!

Straightaway I would blame the wah and the boss chorus.

It always happens to me with boss.

Consider adding a dedicated buffer pedal at the start of your signal chain; the one from Wampler is very transparent, the JHS Little Black Buffer is excellent too, not quite as transparent as the Wampler but it adds a bit of sweetness to the sound, which I like.

I prefer the clarity that I get with dedicated buffers at the start of the signal chain compared to the buffers that are in-built into some non-true bypass pedals.

I believe the EP Booster does function as a buffer if and when it's turned off (from what I've read), so if you happen to have it switched on all the time, in addition to adding that nice colour to your tone, I don't think it still functions as a buffer. Perhaps someone can verify this as I'm not certain about this point.

The 2 dedicated buffers I mentioned above works wonders especially if the number of pedals are more than 4 or 5.

I remember EB Volume and Wah pedals have some serious buffer issues that causes the suck.

My primary suspect will be the EB Wah as well. The posters above are right that you may need a dedicated buffer to bring the highs that you lose due to some pedals or even a long and/or crappy cable. How long is your cable from guitar-board then from board to amp?

cables are 6 + 9 feet.. and im using bullet cables also..
