uhm.....i know that guitar tapping is that cool sound i make on the fretboard with my finger. but is there any theory in this?? how does in work?? and are there any riffs i can practice on, i cant seem to find any...

and ive read that tapping requires a low guitar action. how low should should i set the action for my strat???

when u tap a strins fairly hard, the impact of the string with the fret makes the string on the other side of the fret vibrate

it sounds like a smoother note being played as compared to picking and the best part is u can play lots on notes very fast on the same string even if the frets are far apart...

the action don't really need to be be very low for finger tapping cause u're most probably going to fret the 1st few frets with ur left hand's index and tap with the rest of the sting with the rest of ur left hand fingers and right hand fingers... but a low action would help playing fast and acurate in general...

Its like hammer on/pull off but extended to include your picking hand. Its essentially a legato technic.

I think you can find lessons and help online, try to google harder. Something like "tapping for beginners" , "easy tapping" or something.

I don't think that low action is the correct term. It should be a uniform low action. You want your action to be as uniform as possible if you are a heavy tapper... otherwise if your action goes from low to medium, you will find it very weird as your left hand has it easy but your tapping hand has to go down hard. Harder to articulate well too. However, this has to do with preference... I like my action to rise just a bit and I'm used to tapping that way.

Anyway, if you really wanna try, just start with something simple, like take the 3 note per string scales, and tap the 3rd note on each string. Which is what I have doing...

Tapping is great fun... makes you sound really fast.

Tapping Rules!

btw, ive not tried the wakeme up pedal b4. Audios i heard from the website sounds good. But OD are not my thing. Sorry!

the wakemeup OD pedal is good! combine it with your guitar and a marshall stack amp, and it will blow you away...hehe

one adjusts his string action by either lowering ones bridge or adjusting the truss rod on ones guitar (or both)

adjusting your truss rod is not a way to adjust action...many guitar luthiers will point this out..its to give relief to the first few frets of your guitar fingerboard, to prevent open string and first few frets buzz..
