Guitar Rookie practicing in the East ...

Hi all,

I'm a guitar rookie here. Got an acoustic guitar for a while now & just know the basic chords but lacking of the motivation and what-to-do-the-next-step? Tried learning from a "guitar instructor" but it was like trying to learn how to grill a chicken to perfection with a freaking flame thrower! Zero motivation, jumping from one point to another, aimless guiding and no concepts!

I've found online & dvd guides but it is lacking that human interaction, I suppose!

So, if there are a few others out there looking to meet up once a week or more (if possible). To learn and progress together, that'll be great!. Goal is to:
a) Motivate each other
b) Proper learning & concepts
c) Practice Practice Practice
c) Target to be able to play a few cool songs within 2 months .. so that the gurls will be falling & gushing over us... just kidding la

So, I don't think age is of any essence, as long as you are a lover of music and guitar. So, if we do meet up, it should be central for all in the East ... if you have a big house/garage/basement/studio or something to practice at, then that'll be sweeter than a the sweetest cotton-candy at a sugar festival! Could you create a video of the fast way to shred? I'm pretty much stuck at that technique and it's stopping me from playing me from playing songs with shredding which I love a lot.

I'm serving my ns now and im pretty much too lazy to do a video now, but in the mean time, what type of shred are you listening to?

Hey, I live in the east (Sengkang). I recently got myself an acoustic guitar, I'm sure I'm much more 'beginner-ish' than you. Still trying to familiarize / learn the chords (whilst developing calluses) and correcting my own strumming technique (finding a thinner pick). This sounds interesting. Learning a guitar for me is really challenging since I'm learning on my own. I watch tutorials online and find them useful but it would have been great to be in a group of music and guitar lovers. Keep me posted about this.
