Guitar Paintwork

the reason why pple would charge so much is due to the fact that they have to strip the initial layer of paint before respraying to avoid any form of unevenness. if you want, can overspray the guitar yourself. one spray can and a can of brasso can already.

the paint removal/sanding part really tedious lar. not only that, for proper paint job, need to wait for weeks for the layers of paint to settle properly, if i'm not mistaken.

tt's why i think $300 minimum is a fair market rate

in the last few years.. around 2004 onward luthier already charge at 300 est.
and quality were superior.. but at that time a friend of mine went to one which charge at 200.... wow the quality really suck. guess it's those monkey fgl mentioned. heehee..
anyway he left guitar playing.

The paintjob was so bad he quit playing guitar? lol

Hey guys! Well...what I did was the lazier ways of getting things done. Hehehe!!

The proper way is here:

Just to share what I did:

I never remove the paint on the guitar as it is so tedious. Did that on my 1st guitar project.
Just apply glue over the body and cut it in shape. Once done I just sprayed it with a lacquer. When I get bored..I'll just remove the fabric and re-apply other fabric. Hehehehe!! If you follow the actual process, it's like almost permanent.

up your points for the info ,.... and I bid USD $25 for the tele after batik conversion:mrgreen:

Dei...no bidding dah!

Hmm..anyway may not want to lay fabric on my Tele...cause later value drop when I want to sell. Ah..maybe install an orange drop...or maybe banana drop if any. Hehehe!!

Maybe buy a copy tele...and lay chong sam fabric over it. Might looked cool...as it's gonna be CNY soon. Change with tesla pickup for tele....and still get the shiokness. Hmm...money not enough...must wait for Ang Pow from my boss dah.

tetra is getting more tele fever?
it is a simple guitar, can be deadly in the "wrong hands"

me more into abstract design, minimalist to be exact... meaning.. no banana drop..
if it is white.. just a simple drop of black ink will do.. leave final effect to principle of chances..

cheh steady man.. like real only eh eh eh...

bro eieio - tetra is a tele born again convert - maybe U shud sell him your eden tele for his batik mods?

Oh yeah bro eieio, a tele has definitely fallen to the wrong hands of mine. Hehehe!! Never thought a tele could sound so good. In my guitar playing life, I never tried a tele 'cause the shape is so awful to me the last time. Now, I can appreciate the beauty and all. Hehehehe!!

I saw a cheapo tele at Citymusic only $204....hehehe!! Might wanna buy and take it apart. But see lah...budget run liao lah, later wanna buy pup somemore. Aiyah! Anyone got spoil tele..can sell me cheap-cheap I buy. No pup, no machine head, got thousand scratches also never mind as long got neck and body.

fgl: np for brader tetra.. :)
that is a museum piece, priceless!
been thru the slow hands of mortals..

tetra: ok 1 tele body & 1 neck coming up
lets go siti muzik we can test test teh tele
then we go for chicken rice & kopi? how fgl set?
