Guitar on computer

I saw my teacher putting his guitar wire, into the back of his cpu.

And he have a programme for the guitar, includes distortion, overdrive and stuff.

Is there such stuff?o.o And how do we put our wire into the back of the cpu?

the socket where he plugs the wire in... or you can buy an adapter and plug it into the line-in socket. i use my com to tune my guitar....
