Just wanna ask around the response for this axe and comments if any.

And some queries below:
1) What can be played on this guitar?
2) With the pickup, which position is most suitable for which type of playing?
3) Do u think the tele sound will turn out well for this guitar?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Model: Yamaha PAC112M

Pickup:
[Neck] DiMarzio Virtual Vintage 54
[Middle] Stock
[Bridge] Seymour Duncan JB

Besides the 5 way switch, there is a customised Neck-Bridge pickup switch for Tele sound.

Cheers (",)

answering to based on my knowledege:
1. you can play any song with that guitar (and yes, even with any crap guitar. Whether it sound good, is another story)
2. I believe they are all very capable pickup. So you can play with any position
3. I dub so. The tele pickup is just different. if it can be done this way, nobody will buy tele

i dont think the neck pickup of the tele is a lipstick pickup (like those found in the ibanez talman) but rather a single coil with a cover. the strat and the tele sound very different imo, but the guitar you mentioned would be rather versatile as well. yamaha pacificas are gd guitars and are worthy of the pickup upgrades...and the pickup combi mentioned would give you a large range of tone. I personally use a fender tele and there's no replacing it.

bottom line...the guitar you mentioned will sound play and sound well...but if you're really after a tele tone...get one.

just for extra info...
here's a lipstick pickup

Isn't that a lipstick pup in the neck?
Well most of them have those.
The Ibanez Talman started using those much later. 8)

i meant to say that the neck pickup on teles arent called lipstick pickups...maybe i'm wrong but i think lipstick pickups should be diff inside...at least the cover is diff - rounded. For teles i think they are just single coils with covers...haha but i love the one on mine.

Lipsticks were used by Danelectros and Jerry Jones. Later adopted by Talmans and many other guitars. The construction is waaaaayyy different from the Tele.

Lipstick pickups are round and cylindrical. Thats why they're called lipstick.

Tele pickups ARE NOT what is referred to normally as lipsticks. They're called Tele neck pickups.

Best do some research on the web before posting lah. You sounded so confident there.

haha i was quite confident until wang posted together with a pic...haha...that makes it sound so solid. ok well whatever  back to more guitar research i guess.

But I do some read ups time to time.
Some sites called them lipsticks.

It's good to get corrected and LEARN.

Pls Advise

Do you guys happen to chance upon a modded Telecaster with dual Hums instead of the traditional & conventional 1? I was thinking of customizing a Tele with H-H pup system, would it be feasible?

Please advise.

Actually. the tele sound comes from it's special neck lipstick pup and the bridge which gives it the bright twang.

of course. one of my teles have 2 dimarzio DLX on it but thats a custom body. :D

if you're modding an existing stock tele, there are some things to look at. Let me give you the options.

Option 1
1) Bridge you can use Tele sized humbuckers like the twinblade/pole pieces series from Duncan, Dimarzio, Barden and I think Bill Lawrence.
2) Neck you may need to route to a full humbucker cavity on the body and change the pickguard or source for a tele neck sized humbucker. I've not seen any yet, so you may want to google it and surprise me.

Option 2
1) Change the bridge to a tele bridge with humbucking slot and buy a full size humbucker.
2) Route the neck pickup cavity to humbucker and then use a full size humbucker. You'll need to change pickguard.

Good luck!

Hmm

In both cases, the neck pickup cavity wld definitely require a woodwork if im not wrong?

Btw, how does DLX sounds? Been curious to find out how some of the DiMarZio pickups sound.
