guitar finishing problem

hey! just seeing if any of you could help me here. so recently i've decided to refinish a guitar and started with removing the paint. i hand sanded it, which surprisingly did not take so long as others said it would take, and now its paint free.

heres where the problem comes in. there is a difference in the wood errr... "finish" as in some parts are smoother then the other (not sure what i'm taking about here) and the grain is not as obvious in the problem area. not sure if its varnish or stain or some other thing

pictures are here...*how to add pictures......* ah!

its not oversand. it just shows that there is still a layer of sealer that you have not cleared and that is the hardest part to get rid off.

if you do not remove the sealer entirely, the colour will not be even after spraying a new coat of paint. I would recommend paint remover plus rougher sand paper.

refinishing is never easy. very time consuming.

I agree with relinquish69. You haven't get to the skin (bare wood). Using paint remover is wise, it can do the same job (hand sanding) with great speed. However, do know that paint remover can melt plastics. So avoid letting plastics parts getting stain by paint remover. Once that happens, it is irreversible. Best wishes. :p
