Guitar cable extension, possible?

I'm trying to find a way to extend the distance of my guitar from its amp. At present, my guitar audio cable is a male-male one. I'm thinking if there is a male-female cable that I can use to extend the length of my current cable.

Is there such a cable? Would the length of the cable affect the guitar, the amp, or my computer (when I connect through a USB) in any ways?

If there is such a cable, how much would such a cable probably cost, and where can I buy it?

Wouldn't buying a longer guitar cable solve ur problem?

Oh... Is it because there isn't such a cable or connector in the shops?

Apart from extending the length, I was also hoping that sometimes I can change the other end of the cable to a USB one while other times I can change it to the normal 1/4 audio jack for the amp.

such connector is available, but not from guitar shops usually

Those kinda female 1/4 jack are easily available from hardware shops in sim lim tower 3rd floor. Its pretty easy to use existing cable, chop off one end of the male 1/8 plug and replace it with the female 1/8 inch jack, solder the tip/sleeve on the jack accordingly and it will be done.

While its pretty easy to diy such extension, theres still things to take note of, loading effect of long cable affecting the signal, 1 more moving parts in between the signal path connection(thus 1 more possible part failing) etc

Anyway, overall the possible issue prolly no big issue if mainly playing at home and for fun. Imho, its a good start up project to learn about soldering and doing up your own instrument cable

Additional info to read up on if wanna diy. Tip/ring/sleeve connection on a 1/4, 1/8 inch phone plug/jack etc, using multimeter continuity test setting for testing solder connection

Thanks for your helpful post! :D A few questions. The shops at sim lim tower level 3 sell ready made or just the female jack that I can buy for DIY?

I found something like this on google. Both ends are female, and I can extend a cable easily. Do Sim lim tower or guitar shops have something like this:

You mentioned 1/8 inch plug. I'm fair new to this. Should the usual guitar jack be of 1/4 or 1/8 inch? I always thought it is 1/4. What is the 1/8 one used for?

1/8 inch ones are those for headphone/earphone usually and also certain format modular synth usage. For guitar related, its all 1/4 inch size, mono ones.

Both side female extension, i have not seen it.

Sim lim tower sells components and stuff, they dont do ready make stuff. Theres a shop(LHS) on 2nd floor that sell cables and stuff, can try there, if wanna pay for them to do the cables you want.

Thanks for the tip! I may check out LHS. Hopefully they do sell the female coupling for the 1/4 audio jack (the one I posted in the picture). I thought this is better than a male-to-female extension. I need this extension quite badly. I may try DIY too if they sell the parts and the assembling is not too difficult. But I'm an electronics newbie. :p
