Guitar+Amp recommendation?

Yet another recommendation thread. haha
I need help getting my first electric guitar.. going to get it really soon. Stuff i'm looking to play are i guess, mostly rock - white stripes, the black keys, nirvana, led zeppelin, guns and roses, acdc, red hot chilli peppers, incubus, etc and also other alt rock stuff. ( sooo wanna learn cliffs of dover and glasgow kiss)

I've been doing some research myself and have come to liking telecasters alot, but i'm not sure if it can play the type of music i wanna play? Or would strats or lespauls be a better alternative. I've thought of the possibility of replacing one of the pickups in the tele to a humbucker..to suit me better? what do yall think.

Also what amps do u guys recommend to suit my needs and while we're at it what are the common effect pedals that i'll want or should i leave those for later.
My budget is around $700+ for the guitar and roughly $100-200 for an amp? hoping to get a standard tele or something.
THANKS!

Actually, I think for the music you play, any guitar will suffice as long as it has a bridge humbucker. Teles with humbuckers at this budget may be difficult to find... I'd actually recommend a humbucking strat if you wanna do Glasgow kiss kinda stuff too.

hmm i dunno man. i'm quite attracted to the tele's shape. strats are kinda common haha. i'll try to fit a humbucker to a tele i guess. probably gonna go down to sweelee to take a look see later on.

oh yeah and are the humbuckers normally fitted in the bridge or neck in the tele.

most people change their bridge tele pickup to humbucking single-coil size pickups... if you wanna put a full size humbucker onto a tele, you might need to route the guitar body and change the bridge.

Just get a telecaster its important to buy a guitar you actually like. There always seymour duncan's Hot Rails™ to beef up your tone if you really need it. Teles should suit your genre's fine anyway. If you get any other guitar , trust me you will regret not getting the telecaster.

With your budget being 700 you can probably get a preowned Mij Telecaster if your lucky. For your amp i would consider saving for a Roland cube which cost rathely 250-300.
