what's that suppose to mean?maybe a schecter omen 6 should fit the bill.A7X uses schecter right?amp?i dunno.a lil' bit of cash could help.dont think timbre is good for metal.

So we're taking it as you do not want a floyd rose equipped guitar right? Well, an Ibanez SA series guitar might suit what you're looking for, with "down only trem". However the SA series guitar don't come cheap first hand, given your budget, so it might be useful to source the 2nd hand market for that if you still want a decent amp to go along with.

For amp, since A7X plays quite high output stuffs, it would be worthy to invest in an amp with good built in distortion tones, unless you're relying on your pedals for your distortion needs. Subversion has some good reviews on guitars and amps, so you might wanna check them out as well.

My 0.01 cents worth. :)

wat i mean by down only is that cos floating bridge difficult to drop D so down only and fixed easier right?

You mean a trem that is configured to dive-only.

Even on a vintage tremolo unit, if its set to float - meaning you can pull up or push down (dive) - you can't just detune your instrument.

Its not just a floyd rose issue. Even the Ibanez SAs can be made to be full floating.

And... on all trem units that can float, you can make them dive only - usually via some sort of a trem block... like grab a piece of wood and stuff it into the cavity, there you go, trem cannot pull up and you can detune to your heart's desire.

easier just get fixed bridge.floyd rose is such a chore.but syn leads thru fixed bridge is another chore.well at least you ain't planning to do dime's trademark harmonics.

dont get some cheap ass floyd trem , aint worth it as they wear out pretty quickly . hmm 600bucks , get a cube30x and a olp mm1 . would rather get a decent amp . would avoid mg's and line6 spiders :)

To play A7x..i think you need a FR if u really wanna get de song note for note. Patience is de virtue here. Save up a bit more to get a good axe & amp.

I disagree....dun wait until you can afford a better axe....grab a quite good guitar that within ur budget first and get your playing right...then slowly upgrade when you starting to feel unsatisfied with your gear.....My vote goes for LTD M50/EC 50 plus Marshall MG15CDR

I started with Yamaha EG303 and a cheap prince amp...u got a quite nice starter budget there :)

Light synchronized tremolos like those found on Ibanez SA series or John Petrucci Musicman signature CAN detune, just like fixed-bridges. But a bit harder because you will have to retune all six strings since it floats and detuning one string sends all the others a bit out of tune.

I drop to drop-D very often on my GSA60, and tuning takes only short while.

I'd recommend Ibanez Gios, because they're of high-quality. BUT if you want to really make them workhorse instruments fit for the stage, change the pick-ups. But that can come later when you're ready to hit the stage.
