Hmm.
Get the Squier or if you're living near woodlands, you can try out the Timbre guitars.. heard some good feedback about those units.
if all else fails, consider a J&D.. but bring an experienced friend to help you try any of those guitars out and remember to buy him kopi after that.

danial: the official Schecter dealer is G77, there are selected models @ ebenex also. the reviews do state the list prices of the reviewed models, do refer to them.

'better' is subjective. after playing the GRX40, it may/ may not be better for you, yes?
i have nothing against Ibanez guitars- more than half of my collection here are Ibanez. keep in mind that the Gio series are entry level models which are hits/ misses. for this range of Ibanez models, i have respect for only 2 models: GSZ120/ GAX70 which are good instruments per se.
if your budget hovers over the entry level offerings, i suggest you keep your options open & embrace a well constructed guitar with appealing playability & tone. move away from the Ibanez brand name if you have to.
