Gripping Sticks

Yup, Should i hold my drumstick in my 1st finger 1st joint or 2nd?

many sites says 1st but i find it really uncomfortable and when i hit hard it will slip back dosen't that mean i have to hold it really tight?

talking abt gripping sticks. I would say it depends on how comfortable you like it. As long as you don't grip it too tight bcos you might want the rebound to work for you.

as for the hard hitting, instead of hitting it hard, you might want to use a higher stick height above the snare & hit it to get the accented sound.

i llike to compare holding stick strenght to holdg a pen or pencil.. u dun hold it too hard or too soft until the pencil will slide when ur writing...so yea...

so is it ok to hold in in the second joint?

i can play rudiments faster that way lol compared to 1st joint where i feel awkward...

it is ok if it works for you. Just work on it to see if you are comfortable in building speed as well.
