this year MTV's VMA have been a blast for greenday. They have been a band for the last 16 years and thus had won numerous awards. This year at the VMAs, greenday won 7 out of 8 awards. They are:

video of the year- boulevard of broken dreams
Best group video-BOBD,
Best rock video-BOBD,
Viewer's choice- American idiot,
Best direction- BOBD,
Best editing- BOBD,
Best cinematography- BOBD

Its funny whenever a band becomes famous with the mainstream audience, it starts to loose its credibility. To me they were always a great punk band, then and now.

i've listened to greenday since their dookie days. liked what i heard but not really into them. prefer fugazi. but my wife's crazy about them, even way before they were big. we catch them in tokyo in march this year. their gig rocked big time! its one of the best gig i've been to so far! (except for when pearl jam/mudhoney and sonic youth/foo fighters, and of course when fugazi came to singapore in the 90's) maybe its the japan crowd. just maybe...

but its always like that, something u love so much, u always want it to be yours. not owned by 'everbody'. u want them to be exclusive, precious, underground, listened to by 'a selected few' (including you). when metallica went big after their 'black album', i choose to ignore the band. even when they came here (stupid me!).

but hey, my wife, like mobius still believe that greenday 'will always be a great punk band, then and now.' and i believe it should be that way, if u are a true fan. no matter if they were big, or still unknown.

I've listened to greenday since their 1st lbum smooth/39.
and i tell you, their music. is great.

i've never put greenday aside.
my all time fav guitarist/frontman is always billie joe.

to me, when they just started as a band until they are today.
They never sucked nor sub-standard.

they are truly talented people and look, they are still together.
for like more than a decade.

weel, i think you suck. cause u only tend to listen to those underground liked by few and not well known. like what? u guys get a prize to know a band thats not well known and plays beautiful music? think about it.

While I don't condemn bands who strike it out in the mainstream, I completely disagree with the underground statement. Good music is good music, no matter your popularity. Some of the best guitarists sit in their home and do nothing but play all day. Now, are they going to be popular? No. But can they make good music? Yes, they can. Not everyone wants to make music as their source of income, it can just be a hobby or a way to express themselves, you know you get it out you feel better kinda thing. And not everyone can cope with the stress and glamour of the media. So please, open up your mind and think, for goodness sake. :roll:
