goth music

The common meaning of Goth, rather the misconception people have nowadays, is that Goth means Black, Metal driven music. Which is purely not the case.

Goth is a unique music genre, very diversified from the rest of the music we listen to, only recently, Goth has married into Metal. Recently meaning within the past 20 years or so. So some people think 'goth' = metal. Purely false.

Goth isn't just a genre of music, its a way of life.

The first goth music grew out of punk, and some of the early bands were very lively, characterised by tribal drumming. Things changed in the mid-eighties, mainly due to the rise of the Sisters of Mercy, probably the most well-known goth band. The Sisters were characterised by deep vocals, simple yet prominent basslines, and simple drum machine rhythms. Unfortunately they came to typify the "Goth Sound" and too many later bands followed their example.

so goth music came from punk. now thats a surprise.

Gothic music can bend in many ways:
For metal , the dark symphonic approach - Nightwish , Epica etc
For punk and alike - Try Sixousie and the bandshees
Then theres even techno/rave made for goths

Then theres the fashion thingy, they call it
. The original term of goth was to describe germanic tribes who were pagan and when the christians tried to convert them they revolted . but they were converted one way or another nonetheless . Well after that the christians turned to become Roman Catholic while the goths were still orthadox christians . Later on architechture during those Victorian and Elizabethan era took place and these kind of architecture were known as goth . All in all , the term goth is used to create this sense of never ending change and even the old century aura .
