Yasmin Ahmad, what a wonderful and comic director! Feeling depressed all day yesterday and today after hearing about her death. Never actually realised how important her work meant to me until now. Hers was a postmodern vision of hopeless optimism, filling in the void and nothingness of this uncaring world. In a way, she was my personal Mother Teresa. I'll drink one to her and think about all her great films and those that I will never get to see.

Don't really know much about her except for her work on the advertisement campaign coincidentally named 'Funeral' for the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports, which I think was her last published work.

And I think she was working on 'Go, Thaddeus!' which is also about another person who has passed on, a 17 year old National triathlete who passed away after completing the 2007 SEA Games time trial.

Well, anyone who directed and produced such an impactful work deserves to be an inspiration for those who aspire to be in the creative field.

Rest in peace, Yasmin Ahmad.

She did the commercials of Petronas. Mostly, about hari raya, chinese new year and Deepavali.

Her commercials, does impact people in a way or another. I watched those commercials again on youtube, i cried.

She did , movies like sepet and gubra. Really good movie..

We shall cherish her works.

Goodbye Yasmin, you'll be missed...

Do watch her films if you have the opportunity and try to understand the messages that she try to bring across. Love the scene in "Sepet" where a Malay guy pause on his way to the mosque for morning prayer to stroke a limping stary dog , about a prostitute struggling to bring up her child and so on. This kind soul who's trying to address awareness on multiracial and real life issues thru her films is a big loss and deserved recognition for her works.
