Good Ibanez Guitar

First of all, what music will you be playing on it? It's very difficult to recommend you a model if you don't provide any details because Ibanez has a whole lot of models to choose from and they are all different in some way.

Then I would recommend the Ibanez SA series. They're versatile instruments and suitable for many genres of music, and can play pretty much any genre of rock thanks to its sleek design and pickup configuration. I have a GSA60 (the lower-end range) and it can pretty much do it all. Very versatile design.

I would not recommend the Ibanez RG series or many of the other Ibanez designs (XPT, ICT, VPT, S series) because they're more towards hard rock / heavy metal players in terms of design. Actually many Ibanez guitars appeal to the hard rock / heavy metal crowd, just that the Ibanez SA is designed more conservatively so it can do pretty much all.

Perhaps the SA220 or SA260 would be a good starting point, and they're professional instruments so you could still be using them if you go professional, play gigs, etc. The SA260 costs around $750 I think. The GSA60 is a fine instrument for me (I've used it live) but with low-end Ibanez guitars, the quality is quite inconsistent.

The thing i have been playing for a while now. I wanna get a better guitar. How bout a signature series? I went to Ibanez website and swa the Andy Timmons and Steve Vai Signature Series

I doubt you can go wrong with a higher-end Ibanez like the Prestige or the signature range. Try various models in person and make your choice from there... The Andy Timmons model suits rock music more in my opinion, so my vote goes for the Andy Timmons model.

Ditto on the SA260. Real great guitar :). And because it isn't exactly 'cheap', I dont think you'll be changing it any time soon like i will be, just some upgrade here and there :)

So where sells the Andy Timmons Signature and how much it cost?

My budget is within 1000. But i gotta feeling i may blow it. So can you recommend another one? I want it to be black with a reasonably good whammy with shark tooth inlay...

with ur specs dood...go 2nd hand, though i doubt u can find any prestige signature series for less than a grand. so here are my suggestions if u're;

gonna blow ur budget:
- andy timmons model (as u wanted)
- the pgm300 (its pretty versatile too, and there's better access than the AT model)
- any rg prestige model (most of them have got good whammies and sharktooth inlays)

sticking to ur budget:
- sas32
- sas36
- rg350 (the edge iii on it is pretty steady and it also has sharktooth inlays)

well, also depends on what kinda bridge u wanna use...
floating? fixed? etc...

The RG prestige are really nice as some ppl mentioned...
Signature models are way outta the budget (even if u buy used ones)

Best is to just try out the guitar yourself. see which feels more comfortable to you.
I gotta emphasize on trying out the guitar first to know how it feels to you because i know many players that get something based on others' recommendations, but regret it later because it doesnt feel as comfortable to them as how it feels to others.

what do the prestige models cost, specifically the rg2550? ive been to sweelee but the prices are sky high. ive heard taht they usually give a "discount"?

Ok i also play a bit of metal. Is the Jem Jr good? I went to Stamdard Value Website and the price was $720.

JEM Jr's playability is ok. honestly i dont really think much about ibanez guitars.
I've tried one before, the feel is pretty alright, but it doesnt stay in tune very well. To me its just seems like a normal low/mid range RG with the JEM design on it. i dont think its worth it at all.

Do check out the forums buy/sell section.. they a good deal of guitars going for sale and some are really gems for the price ppl are selling them at. Plus u will be able to try out the guitar as well.

ibanez pricing like gibson now eh? (i think i'm gonna get flamed for this)

anyway, if u're thinking of a jem jr, i'd rather u go for the rg350. some reasons are that the jem jr might not be considered even a jem to some, 2ndly, the rg350 has got more wood in it, thus a more solid sound, not much but i prefer my guitar w/o the grip there :P

Nope. Gibsons will always be a lot more expensive.

$3.9K for a signature Ibanez, vs. $4K (around there I suppose) for a standard production Gibson LP standard... Gibsons are still a whole lot more expensive.
