good amp

ok guys...i'm kinda saving up for an amp now...preferbly one thats not too expensive...around 300 tops

i need just a simple amp for practise..don't really need effects cos i plan to get pedals and it'll be a waste of money if i paid extra for the built in effects...

err...so basically,i'm kinda hoping that there is a good tube amp in that price range, and that the sound is good, and i'm totally paying on the sound and the quality of the amp,not on effects or anything...

preferbly a versatile one that'll suit my clean to rock sounds...

thx in advanced guys..sorry for the sloppy phrasing..i just can't be bothered =)

300 tops? i doubt u can get a tube amp, bro. maybe u can get just a tube amp head 2nd hand, if ure super lucky enough. that would be either epiphone valve jr head or blackheart little giant head. if head and cab 1st hand is 600+.

but for 300 with good cleans and take pedals well, i'd suggest vox pathfinder 15r(my amp. haha). way below ur budget. ~120 2nd hand. or available at city music.

For an additional $90, you can get Orange Crush 30R (costs $390) which I think is really good for home practise

best choice for his budget.
Roland cube 30 or 30 x.
agree? haha

cube 30/x have effects which he doesn't need. the cube 15/x would be enough.

TS: when u mean effect pedals, do u also mean distortion pedals? coz i assume that u use pedals for distortions too.

yes yes, distortion pedal too of course...

and, does anyone think that a crunch box is better than an ibanez sm7? i might be considering a swap of distortion pedals..

and,keep the suggestions comin!

1. our amp needs are different, as in your case, you need a good base tone to propel your pedals. you'd do well to acquire one with good cleans, regardless if they are tube-based or otherwise. working within your budget, $300 won't get you a fresh (full) tube amp. i'd suggest you keep your options open to non-tube units, the Ibanez TBX30R would be a good consideration.

2. The Crunch Box & Smash Box (SM7) serve different distortion needs (intensity in this case). the CB can't do a heavy metal type tone, while the SM7 has added intensity which would be excessive if you simply need a mild drive. try as many pedals as possible, know your needs & get one which you like/ complement your playing regardless of the brand name.

good amp for 300? if u had a budget 5 times of that then maybe u could secure urself a pretty good amp but at ur price range ure prob looking for something more like good practice amp.

where can i find the TBX30R? Is it really that good?

it's good in light of its asking price- it's definitely above-average but nothing pristine (for something pristine, you have to move away from this price bracket). bro- i'll be @ swee lee this FRIDAY 15/8, maybe i may be of service to you 8-)

Buy & Sell section will be your best bet... I think you can find a decent amp there. I saw an Ibanez Valbee there for $250.

hey there,
apparently, i'm also looking for the same type of amp as IbanezFreak.=]=]
one that can take pedals quite well.

so is there lyk any other type of amps other than the TBX30R that fits the playing style?

thanks =]=]
