"The new GNX3000 Guitar Workstation® also features our new advanced Component Based Modeling™ for the most authentic tone you’ve ever heard.

Traditionally, amp modeling has been done either by electronic measurement or A/B comparison between the physical amp and digital algorithms. These methods can create a single amplifier “tone snapshot.” But as we all know, a classic amp is a complex instrument.

Component Based Modeling analyzes the signal path, individual components and acoustic behavior of an amp: preamp and tone stage topology, the type of power stage, its feedback structure and tube saturation characteristics, how the speaker and output transformer interact, cabinet size and composition, and much more.

When combined with traditional electronic measurements and hundreds of hours of critical listening, the result is the first modeling that distorts, saturates, overdrives and generally behaves the way the original amp’s designers intended. The only thing more real is the amp itself!" Digitech

Cool..
Cant wait to try this thing out and see whether it feels analog..
anyone got this thing?

yeah it uses new DNA chip technology and everybody say GNX3K sounds good even with factory patches. This is an answer for Pod XTL from Digitech.
But in term of features, it is a strip down version of GNX4. I almost buy a GNX3K but finally choose GNX4. But for it's price, GNX3K rock.

GNX3K stripped down version of GNX4?

GNX4 - 3 Audio DNA Processors, 106db SNR, no Component Based Modelling

GNX3K - 4 Audio DNA Processors, 108db SNR, got Component Based Modelling

What I mean was GNX3K lacks other features like no compact flash card slot, no programmable drum machine, no mp3 play back, no on-board recorder etc.
Needless to say technology and chipset use in GNX3K is more advance than any other GNX series. But if you ask Digitech they will say GNX4 is still a big guy in their arsenal.
That’s’ why GNX3K is cheaper than GNX4. But I heard that GNX5 would use same technology that GNX3K uses today. I have been watching GNX3K development ever since Digitech introduce in NAMM 2005 early this year with the name of GNX2000. This is a product from Digitech to compete with Pod XTL and Boss GT8.

GNX3000 costs USD 400 and GNX4 is USD 500. Swee Lee sells GNX4 at SGD 1000 during the promotion and sale periods. Normal price before discount for GNX4 is SGD 1800.

GNX3000 should be around SGD 700 but I think it will cost more in Singapore.

according to digitech GNX4 is d big guy..
according to customers?

both got pros and cons..
i prefer GNX3K..
those features u mentioned are unnecessary for me..
u can always rely on pc for those things u mentioned..
those features are all purely marketing strategy..
more features, more money

anyway, wat important most is the sound produced rite?
4 processors, CBM & higher SNR..definitely better than GNX4..

Depends on what do you want. This is exactly what Digitech try to do. They offer products for all range. When people do not need all GNX4 features then they can get a multi effect with PC recording function unit with lower cost.

But to me, programmable drum machine is important as I can program drum tracks for entire song. Yes you can do it with software like Fruity Loop but it costs you more.
MP3 and midi playback function is also useful to me, I can download backing tracks from Internet and magazines and play along with them. So I pay extra 100 $ to get these features.

If you only after the tone, then GNX3K is a clear choice as it has better chip. But difference in tone is very small as you can emulate any amp sounds that you want with GNX4 hypermodel feature. More than 300 amp models are on the way for GNX4.
