Hi people, I hope you guys don't mind me, i decided to open up a topic purely on the gibson les paul. So les paul fanatics like myself please post your thoughts, pictures of your les pauls etc.

By the way how desirable are goldtops compared to sunbursts?

i want to have one..but currently still become my dream guitar only..but someday I will get it.. currently I play my epi LP std goldtop

haiez peeps, yeah the les paul am a huge fan of it and my no 1 guitar currently is my gibson studio, banged up but still sound so good, hahaha. I was a strat player before i converted to gibson, i think il juz love the look sound n mojo of it hahaha

cheers

i think the schecter c-1 classic would blow some gibsons away.. would love to get my hands on one but sadly its a long way across the causeway.. :( if they brought it to sg i would snap it up in an instant when i have the $.. its around $1180 with beautiful inlays and great pups.. that like about a price of a lp studio but the quality surpasses it totally.. but i havent actually played it so im waiting for the day i do :D

alamak, schecter is schecter, gibson is gibson. Both different style, different country of manufactured, different wood grade, one is considered versatile enough to be used in metal, rock, blues etc and the other, dont really see anyone other than the nu rock, metal whatever band using to look cool and rock and roll enough.....

anyway, this is only about gibson les paul post, so what am i and schecter doing in here..... nevermind.....pardon my ignorance.....

but the classic has jazz and JB pups, which are about as versatile enough to fit into the genres mentioned leh.. and i was just giving a parallel to the gibson and its alternatives.. but its still hijacking the thread so real gibson owners come into the scene while i, the epiphone owner would go stand one side and drool

Hmmz, Goldtop. If I would get, I'll get the 57' Goldtop LP with P90s. That's one son of a mean LP.

What i think is that the vintage goldtops have higher collection value besides the 1959 sunbursts, than current sunburst models.

Do you guys think goldtops look dull and boring?

I think they have a unique look. Sound wise, they are huge.

I have this feeling, is the desire for Gibson Les Pauls dying? Surpassed by PRS ?
heh

Would love to have the PRS McCarty as my next guitar. I've played one and it felt so so so good.

yeah the single cut n watsmore juz before they were sued they released a cheaper single cut, the single cut tremolo, id like to get tt one hehe, oh well ..

The singlecut will never beat the Les Paul. Now gibson lp is fitted with the burstbuckers and it sounds so good, just like how a gibson lp is sound in the past.

is a gibson voodoo any good? and if i wanted to play music like cradle of flith ect, what kinda guitars, amps n effect pedals would i need? thanks :)

both gibson lp n prs singlecut cannot be compared saying which one sounds better. lp has a fantastic thick fat vintage sound. singlecut can get both vintage and cutting edge sound. although de gibson has a nicer vintage sound it cant beat de versatility of de prs in terms of prs having coil tap n tt de heel of de prs neck is waaay slimmer than a lp. both r fantastic guitars n r unique. depends on wat ure seeking. :D

I don't think that's a very fair statement. IMO, its like comparing apple and durians. The only common thing they have is both sport a single cutaway. The sound, tone, neck, WEIGHT, and the overall feel is different. I will not say that the singlecut is better than LP. But to say that that LP is that much better is kinda biase.

wads so good abt burstbuckers? IMO, both the SC and LP are not comparable as stated above... two different ballgame...
