heya folks, this would be my very first review on this forum. so here it goes!
Guitarhero (GHmod) SD-1
Features:
There are 2 switchable modes in this pedal, one being modded to TS808 specs while the second mode delivers a sweet gritty yet thick overdrive with a volume boost.
Tone:
At TS808 mode, thick overdrive tones can be easily tweaked with the 3 knobs on the interface of the pedal. Even with the gain knob turned up all the way, the grit and dirt don't over power the tone, keeping the overdrive sweet and creamy. Highly recommended for those who wish to have a stand alone drive pedal that works well both stacked and alone!
Turning down the gain and turning the tone up on TS808 mode, you'll be able to get a gritty but thick/smooth tone, great for ripping out riffs. players be it using single coils or hums, if you're looking for a pedal that adds the meat and chunks to your music but does not entirely change your tone to a dirt crunching monster, this is the pedal for you. This mode works lovely when stacked against a distortion. When i stacked this with my keeley ds-1, the tone just blasted me sky high, expect some heavy crunch overdrive with loads of chunks and thickness.
In the volume boost mode, this mode isn't as creamy as the TS808 mode. basically, this mode has more high ends, giving you a gritty overdrive tone. Drive in this mode is also transparent, without colouring much of your tone except adding the grit to it, its a perfect mode for rhythmic overdrives. turning up the gain on this mode, brace your ears as this pedal is capable of bring you a sweet distortion/overdrive grit. fantastic!
Ratings: 95%
Pricing is very reasonable and he's a fun guy to work with. People interested do take time to savour his pedals as they really do deserve some recognition.
Likes:
dynamic and versatile
Creamy overdrive tone
2 Switchable modes (more tweakable)
Price
Dislikes:
TS808 mode could be alittle louder
Came without original box (thats all i can think of)
